Life has it’s ways of throwing little (or not so little) curve-balls into the equation sometimes, doesn’t it? The optimist in me wants to say that it keeps us on our toes, but then the pessimist just feels like she wants to punch life square in the face! However, I’ve always gravitated towards the phrase ‘everything happens for a reason’, and although sometimes it can be hard to see how that is true, I do believe that everything does work itself out eventually – I feel like pretty much everything has so far in my life, and I’m sure it will again.
At the end of the day, this blog is a personal blog so I feel that talking about myself and what’s going on in my life is quite an important part, and while I don’t want to do that in every post, I do think it’s a key part of the whole blogging experience, for both bloggers and readers. I know I like reading personal posts from some of my favourite bloggers and I feel that it is definitely something I should be including on here too. I can safely say that I won’t be pouring my heart out every week, but perhaps once or twice a month it’s nice to do a bit of an update (providing there’s things to update you on!) just to keep you all in the loop.
So as for what’s going on in my world right now – long story short – the main thing is that I’m going to be moving house. For those of you who don’t know, I currently live in North London, but I’m actually going to be moving right across the other side to South London. This is a better location for me really, and it’s slightly further out of central so I will be able to keep a car which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I spend so much of my time on trains/coaches travelling down to visit my family and friends on the south coast that it had all become a bit frustrating, plus it takes soooo long! Having a car will give me so much more freedom, and while I don’t plan on using it to get to work, it will be so useful to be able to just take off somewhere of a weekend/weekday evening without having to rely on public transport. This is all very #firstworldproblems, I know (!) but if I can do something to make my life a little easier, then why not! Having a car will mean I can get to the south coast in just over an hour and a half, when door to door on public transport from where I am currently can take up to 4 hours – I kid you not! That’s 8 hours of travelling in just 1 weekend – not cool. So I’m really looking forward to having a bit more freedom and just going places as and when I please and also not having to book 100 years in advance to avoid sickeningly expensive travel costs!
So, as I’m moving, you can expect lots of interiors posts as I get my room set up – I’m really excited about getting everything in and starting to decorate it all – it’s most definitely my favourite part of moving! I’ve also ordered myself a fancy new ottoman bed and an amazingly soft and comfy mattress, so I’m sure that will get a feature once it arrives and I’ve got it all set up. So lots of things planned for after I’ve moved and plenty to do beforehand as well, lots of packing and organising – moving is pretty stressful, so I’m looking forward to getting everything into the new place and then I can relax and just enjoy arranging it all!
As there’s been so much going on recently I’ve cut back on blogging & social media a wee bit, just because I haven’t had the time, or the energy to maintain it as I used to. I’m not going to be one of those people who apologises for not posting, that’s not me at all, but I am a little frustrated with myself that I haven’t stuck to my schedule quite as well as I’d hoped. Although at the same time, I don’t want to be putting up a crap post just for the sake of getting something up every Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday. I’d much rather scale it back to one or two good posts a week while I get back into the swing of things, and I think in the long run I will be glad that that’s what I’ve done.
I honestly can’t see me ever wanting to completely give up on blogging, so rest assured that isn’t going to happen! I enjoy it way too much for that, plus I’ve actually gotten to the stage where people are starting to contact me about samples/PR events and collaborations which is so exciting! I had that moment where I thought, ‘Did they actually mean to email me? Perhaps they’ve got the wrong person?’ But no, they did actually mean to email me and they wanted my opinion and were actually inviting little old me to events too – kerrrazy!
So I guess all that’s left to say is THANK YOU – to all of you who stop by here and take in a little portion of my life and loves every time you visit – I know literally every blogger says this, but if I didn’t get to interact with readers, then I don’t know if I’d be so keen to carry on doing it – every comment/like/follow makes me ridiculously happy and reminds me how much I love the blogging community. People say that blogging has changed over the last few years, and while to some extent I can agree with that, on other levels I think that the people (the bloggers) are just the same as they were 4/5 years ago – the blogging community is such a supportive one and at the end of the day, that’s what really makes it such a positive experience for us all.
